DUBLIN, IRELAND – David Byrne, 35, was shot dead during a boxing weigh-in at the Regency Hotel in Dublin on Friday afternoon.

Handguns are illegal in Ireland and there are less than 2000 handguns of any kind registered in the country. Irish citizens are allow shotguns and rifles for hunting but police estimate still there are over 150,000 unregistered firearms.

Byrne was killed in front of 300 boxing fans in broad daylight in a country that has gun laws so tight even Anti-gun Billionaire Michael Bloomberg would be bored with nothing to protest.

Byrne had been a key Dublin-based member of the Christy Kinahan cartel for years, one of the Dublin’s most notorious gangland criminals. Two different suspected gunmen were also pictured fleeing the scene carrying handguns, with one disguised as a woman.
